A journey through sacred chant and spirit song

~ awakening the heart, lifting the spirit,

and remembering the divine presence within all life.

Contact Us

A celebration of voice, spirit and connection.

Kirtan Alive Collective is a Sunshine Coast- based group of musicians who share a love of devotional chanting and sacred music.

Together we create uplifting musical journeys that invite people to sing, listen, and reconnect with something deeper ~ within themselves, each other, and the living world around us.

Rooted in the ancient tradition of kirtan, our gatherings are joyful, heartfelt and inclusive. Through call-and-response chanting, the audience becomes part of the music. No experience is needed ~ just a willingness to listen, feel, and join in.

Our intention is simple ~ to open the heart, lift the spirit, and remember the divine presence that lives in all things.

The Experience of Kirtan...

Kirtan is a sacred practice from the Bhakti yoga tradition of India. It is a form of musical meditation where voices join together in repetitive chant.

The melodies are simple, the words are ancient mantras, and the experience can be deeply moving.

Through rhythm, harmony and shared voice, kirtan has the power to:

• calm the nervous system
• open the heart
• cultivate joy and connection
• awaken a sense of devotion and presence

When many voices chant together, something beautiful happens — a feeling of unity that goes beyond words.

Sing With Us

Audience participation is at the heart of everything we do.

Kirtan is not a concert — it is a shared experience.

Your voice matters.
Your presence matters.

Whether you sing loudly, softly, or simply listen and feel the music move through you, you are part of the circle.

Together we create something alive.

Our Collective

Kirtan Alive Collective is a six-piece ensemble made up of experienced festival performers and passionate new voices.

Many of us have been playing together for years around the Sunshine Coast, sharing music at gatherings, festivals and community events.

Our sound blends traditional kirtan with medicine songs and sacred folk influences, creating a journey that moves between devotion, celebration and gentle introspection.

We perform seated in the traditional style, weaving together:

• Harmoniums
• Guitar
• Flute
• Violin
• Drums and percussion
• Rich, harmonious vocals

Every performance is unique, guided by the energy of the moment and the voices of the people gathered.

Meet the Musicians of the Kirtan Alive Collective:

Adhi Bail

I was born into a musical family, danced through my youth and have been in a number of bands that have frequented festivals and events around the SE QLD.
It was my yoga journey that brought me to chanting as a spiritual practice.

This ancient devotional practice has bought me so much love, connection, understanding about sound, melody and singing as one. It has deepened my relationship with myself and spirit. The journey has continued to inspire me and songwriting has evolved my ability to express my love of nature, animals and human evolution.

I encourage every being to not die with the music in them ! My mission is to get mine out into the world....
Adhi is also a regular performer at Woodford Folk Festival Sacred Union Labyrinth Band

Caroline Trengrove

Caroline Trengove has been playing music since childhood. Her main instruments are violin, flute, guitar, harmonium & vocals. She has been a professional musician since the late 90’s, travelling the country and beyond with her folk trio Jigzag, and a variety of fellow performers. She moved to the Sunshine Coast in 2011 after creating her debut solo album, The Time Garden.

She has also been on a deepening yogic journey for most of her adult life, and in recent years has brought her music & yoga together with the beautiful offering of Kirtan for the local community, appearing at last year’s Woodford festival with Kirtananda, and the previous year with Sacred Sounds SynergyKirtan. With her powerful & passionate vocals, plus her multi instrumentalist skills, she is a bonus to any musical group.

Sanjaya Stephenson

Sanjaya received his spiritual name in 2010 from his yoga teacher Akash Bornstein (Maaji). The name comes from the ancient Vedic epic The Mahabharata, where Sanjaya is the wise witness who narrates the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita — symbolising the path of self-awareness and inner transformation.

Inspired by a lifelong love of music and a deep commitment to yoga since 2008, Sanjaya brings devotional chanting and sacred music into vibrant community spaces. Through kirtan and spiritual song, he creates heartfelt musical journeys that invite people to sing, connect and experience the uplifting power of collective voice.

Glen Bruce

"My journey into the mystical philosophy of the yogic realm began at an early age being drawn to Swami Sarisvati and the practice of yoga.
Although not being devoted to any particular lineage of faith, I have found a joyful soul presence in the practice of meditative chanting and kirtan.

Sounding the names of the divine beings existent in every soul, brings me a sense of fulfilment deep in my heart.

Not being one linked to tradition I bring a blend of rhythmic beats and riffs into my guitar and djembe playing when I combine instruments and mantra into musical devotion"
